Roberts has a background in chemistry and believes in experimenting with his creativity to produce multi-layered pieces. He mixes colored liquid clay to create a multi-dimensional effect. All of his work has a variety of colors and patterns that have become his trademark. “My work is constantly changing as I develop new tools in my experimentation in the studio. I am deeply fascinated by the underlying randomness in the patterns and structures of nature.”
Roberts is a native of Washington state, surround by an abundance of natural scenery to serve as inspiration. The detail in his ceramics is intricate. The entire process of mixing the colors in the liquid clay to carving the final piece is captivating and well worth the wait. It is evident that he is a dedicated craftsman and is passionate about his chosen medium.
