Thursday Salute to Originals: Expressive Masks

Sure, masks are the new norm. But these aren’t your average masks.

In this day and age of the COVID-19 pandemic, people are finding ways to be more individualistic than ever! None is seen as more expressive than the masks in the Vicki Myhren Gallery. While the pandemic is a current issue and should not be taken lightly, these masks on exhibit as MASK reach out to grasp a more ancient concept: The art of self-expression through face masks.

MASK is comprised of masks from more than 40 different artists, each presenting their own unique twist on the mask to express their individuality. The collection truly encompasses many different art forms, from the whimsical to the downright grotesque. The elements, sizes, and shapes are all subject to each artist and how they chose to display their own self.

This Thursday, we’re saluting MASK at the Vicki Myhren Gallery for allowing us to look at the bright side during these challenging times. If you’d like to see a little more whimsy, take a peek at the exhibition here!
