Thursday Salute to Originals: Rocky Scenes
A photo series captures inspiring scenes of a natural rock formation.
In a new series of photographs from his time in the Tateyama Mountain Range, Japanese photographer Yasuto Inagaki consistently hones in on an eye-catching subject. Against the backdrop of the majestic mountain terrain, a few trees reach out into the sky from a cragged stack of large rocks.
The unusual formation is an automatic focal point against the horizon, and Inagaki will often travel to the same location to capture it in various light, weather, and scenery.
“The first time I encountered a miraculous scene like this one, the city was covered in fog, and the moon was shining brightly on the Tateyama Mountain Range…I have visited the shooting several times,” said Inagaki in an interview with This is Colossal.
Odd and indeed miraculous, the subject of the photographs inspires a feeling of awe, imbued with themes of resilience.
This Thursday, we’re saluting the photographic eye of Yasuto Inagaki. You can view more striking and majestic scenes across Japan on his Instagram.
