Over 2,000 square feet of custom backlit wood veneer panels adorn the main lobby feature walls of the National Cancer Institute research campus in Rockville, Maryland. Through our turnkey process, the cancerous burl growth on a single Redwood tree was transformed into thin raw veneer, then laminated between glass and illuminated. Celebrating the organic natural wood material while allowing flexibility, the backlighting is tuned per particular wood pattern and tied back to a central lighting controller with preset scenes.
