Driveways and sidewalks are untouched canvases to artist and lifestyle blogger Dianna Wood. After receiving a power washer as a gift from her husband, Wood decided to turn the chore of cleaning the driveway into some creative fun.

Similar to printmaking, Wood will use the power washer to remove the dark, dirty film on top of concrete, revealing a lighter surface beneath. From word art to outlines of cardinals and butterflies, the whimsical outlines brighten up her suburban neighborhood.

“I raise and lower the tip of the wand to achieve different gradations. It uses water pressure to clean away the deep-down dirt on the cement leaving an image where the cement is clean,” explained Wood on her personal blog.

This Thursday, we’re saluting Dianna Wood and her power-washed street art. Her application of an every-day tool to create a new medium shows how anything can become art in the hands of a creative person.
