Thursday Salute to Originals: En Plein Air de Caroline du Nord
North Carolina native paints captivating outdoor scenes.
Brush and canvas in hand, artist Jeremy Sams is totally equipped to explore the rolling hills, mountains, and waterways of North Carolina. With a focus on emotion, Sams creates landscape acrylics that translate the sound, scent, and feeling of the outdoors into captivating visual scenes.
In each painting, Sams pays special attention to what he describes as the dance of light and shadow that shape color temperatures in the environment. Each painting is a passionate and pure representation of the landscape with a realistic color pallet and careful attention to shimmering waterways and shadowy shapes.
“Whatever it is that draws my attention, there is something truthful about the landscape that begs to be painted,” said Sams in a note to This is Colossal. “This is one of the reasons that I do very little editing to the scene on my canvas, but I try to capture the essence of that thing which initially drew me in.”
This Thursday, we’re saluting Jeremy Sams passion for the outdoors and his application of en plein air technique. You can view more photos of his finished work on Instagram.
